Are you a creator/ designer/ scientist/ activist/ maker who values openness? We are looking for you!

Submit your project: we are looking for case studies from the fields of open design, open science, open culture, DIY, social activity and other areas that the world needs to hear about! Selected applicants will be invited to the event in Warsaw on April 25, 2024. They will have a chance to publicly share their projects with the SPLOT community and network with other practitioners implementing openness in their work.

Exceptional Minds

Bogna Gawrońska-Nowak

Economist, professor at the Cracow University of Economics. She obtained her post-doctoral degree at the Faculty of International Economics at the Poznań University of Economics and her doctoral degree at the Faculty of Economics and Sociology at the University of Lodz. Bogna is a scholarship holder and a trainee at European universities including: London School of Economics, Università di Padova, Erasmus University, and University of Glasgow. She has been involved as a coordinator and an expert in numerous interdisciplinary research projects, including those carried out under the European Horizon Programme. She was a consultant to the European Commission Representation in Poland. She is a co-founder and expert of the international and interdisciplinary Supported Collaborative Research Network on 'The Limits of EUrope: Challenging the Crisis of European Integration' operating under the auspices of the University Association For Contemporary European Studies (UACES) based in London. Since 2019, she has been working at the Institute for Urban and Regional Development, where she can pursue her passion as a methodologist and analyst of socio-economic phenomena by heading the EURDATA Department of Applied Social Sciences. Since 2023, she has carried out the mission of a citizen science ambassador assigned to her by The European Citizen Science Association (ECSA).

Edyta Ołdak

Edyta Ołdak is a graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She completed her doctorate at the Faculty of Art at the Pedagogical University of Krakow. Edyta is a graphic designer, book illustrator, animator, and cultural manager. She is the founder and long-time president of the Association "Z Siedzibą w Warszawie," where she oversees educational programs and visual branding for the association's activities. Additionally, she is involved in training, developing strategies for cultural entities, and conducting research on the expanded field of culture.In 2021, Edyta led the process of selecting new recommendations for cultural education, resulting in a strategic document for the city of Warsaw, which she co-authored. In 2015, she received the Design Alive Award for Animator of the Year for her project titled "Pudło w grochy albo gąbka na biegunach". Edyta has been twice awarded scholarships by the Minister of Culture in the visual arts category. She is also the recipient of the Warsaw Cultural Education Award and the Must Have Award for an illustrated textbook on Asperger's syndrome.

Kasia Świętochowska

Cross-disciplinary creative producer and consultant. Co-founder of SPLOT Institute. As part of Science Now Studio Kasia co-created the European Space Agency initiative Direction Earth/Space and the permanent exhibition of the Polish Pavilion at EXPO 2020 Dubai. She regularly collaborates with the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, where she leads special projects – she was responsible for NOSPR AI, created in partnership with IBM, and Wayne McGregor and Ben Cullen Williams’ “A Body for Harnasie”. Co-founder of Automatophone Foundation, which collaborates with the Warsaw Deaf community (“Opera for the Deaf”) . From 2011 to 2016, she was associated with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute programmes: Polska Music and I, CULTURE Orchestra. Classically trained cellist. Alumna of the Aspen Young Leaders Program. Laureate of the TOP 100 Women in AI list organised by Perspektywy Magazine in the culture category.
